DSGMC President writes to Defence Minister - lodge Protest for ignoring Sikh regiment in Republic Day Parade

New Delhi / 29-1-2016  The President of the Delhi Sikh Gurdwara Management Committee (DSGMC) Manjit Singh G.K. had protested against disappearance of Sikh regiment contingent from the Republic Day parade this year. G.K. had written a letter to Defense Minister of India Manohar Parrikar as a mark of protest and had said that Sikh regiment has a glorious history and Sikh sentiments are attached to the regiment.

DSGMC chief clarified that as a citizen of India Indian Army can’t be divided on religious basis, since the Sikhs’ identity is connected to the regiment which has a glorious history and it can’t be ignored. Criticizing the missing of Sikh regiment from the Republic Day parade G.K. raised question that despite the three wings of Defense Services – Army, Air Force and Navy having 30 percent Sikh officers and yet none of the contingents taking part in the Republic Day parade were lead by any Sikh officer.

DSGMC President further adds that he was not raising the issue of Sikh regiment only because of their identity but because of its magnificent past, its contribution in protecting borders of the country and matchless sacrifices towards the nation and the fact can’t be ignored that it is the most decorated regiments in the Indian Army. Reminding that Sikhs have got special place in the Armies of US, Canada and England because of their courage and patriotic spirit, G.K. called missing of Sikh regiment from the parade as unfortunate and said the turban and a head gear worn by the soldiers inculcates the spirit of patriotism among youth.

Remembering Former President of the Shiromani Akali Dal Master Tara Singh, G.K. said that said the Sikhs choosing to reject the idea of a separate nation for themselves, has a meaning and it is a well defined fact that they are loyal to the nation where they live. “Sikhs comprise 2 percent of country’s population but their number is 90 percent who laid their lives for the freedom of nation”, G.K. said, saying that Sikh regiment was established by Britishers in 1846 and he told Defense minister they have made great contribution since then.

G.K. said that Sikh regiment fought 1894-95 war with Afgans, fought historic war in 1897 called the War of Saragarhi, World War I and II, Operation Polo of 1948, War with China in 1962, Wars with Pakistan in 1965 and 1971 and Kargil war in 1999 with utmost courage and it an example in itself.“Sikh regiment has got 1652 different Chakkars and Medals which includes 73 war medals, two Param Vir Chakras, 14 Mahavir Chakras, 5 Kirti Chakras, 2 Ashok Chakras, 68 Vir Chakras, 14 Victoria Crosses and was given 21 Indian order of merit awards for War of Saragarhi”, G.K. told Parrikar.

A sensational feeling with #Colgate360GoldMornings

The courier person knocked my door and delivered a big and beautiful packet from Colgate. I was very excited while opening the packet as it had the secret of Cleaner mouth with Gold Mornings. The packet looked very attractive and when I opened it, I was delighted to find not only a beautiful golden brush, but also a beautiful golden mug, probably for my bed tea as well a beautiful flask as a gift.

The enclosed fact sheet had mentioned that the new brush had the Charcoal infused slim tip bristles and on my physical examination of the brush, I found those black coloured bristles in the middle of the new Colgate brush.

The entire packed looked very impressive and the enclosed data sheet had stated that it will clean our teeth,   tongue, cheeks as well the gums with the Gold mornings. As the day was already ON and I was much excited to use the brush at the earliest possible, I started using it on that night itself and yeah, I got a sensational feeling in my mouth.

The next morning was a real gold morning for me as I used the brush before my bed tea, in that golden mug. It felt great. It gave a great feeling inside my mouth. I rotated my tongue in my mouth in almost every direction and got a new feeling, a feeling of better cleanliness into it. Now it has become a routine as I like very much the feeling of #Colgate360GoldMornings

President of the Delhi Sikh Gurdwara Management Committee (DSGMC) hitting on the Aam Admi Party (AAP) convener and Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal today said that his intentions towards the victims of 1984 Sikh genocide were not good, because even one year after setting up of Special Investigation Team (SIT) to re investigate the case of genocide the matter was embroiled in missing and relocating the related file. G.K. said this while addressing a press conference today.
He demanded a thorough probe into the whole episode by CBI as to how an important file went missing and after few days the Delhi government is claiming that they have found it. “There is something really suspicious about the functioning of state government which need to be probed”, G.K. demanded. Kejriwal need to explain to the people what is holding the Delhi government against starting investigations into the genocide, asked G.K. who is also president of Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) in Delhi.

“The matter is very close to the heart of Sikhs who have gone through tremendous pain during the genocide and 31 years after that in the wait for justice, so I want to tell Kejriwal not to do politics on the issue”, G.K. said, asking Delhi CM to explain what has he done for the sake of victims and families of genocide on 1984.

“SIT was formed when Kejriwal was running his government with the support from Congress party and we had at that time said that intentions of AAP led government in Delhi were not clear, which has proved true now”, said G.K. AAP and Congress are two sides of a coin, and none of the two parties want actually want to do anything for the sake genocide victim families, he also said.

About 20 youths from Punjab headed to the US illegally are feared drowned in a boat-capsize incident at sea between the Colombian port city of Turbo and neighbouring South American country Panama in the first week of this month, as reported by a survivor.
Two families from Kapurthala district claim to have received the tragic news over telephone from the survivor, Sonu of Bhogpur (Jalandhar). They have approached the Kapurthala police with a complaint against travel agents Harbhajan Singh of Kapurthala’s Bhatnura village and Kulwinder Singh Multani of Bhogpur, and sought help from the Indian government in tracing their sons.
Kapurthala senior superintendent of police (SSP) Rajinder Singh said a case under Sections 420 (cheating) and 406 (punishment for criminal breach of trust) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and various sections of the Immigration Act had been registered against Harbhajan and Multani and they would now be arrested and interrogated to know how many youths were on the boat.
